10 Km run spreads road safety message

Imphal, January 25 2026: A 10-Km run was held today under the aegis of the Transport Department as a part of the National Road Safety Month.

The run flagged off by Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Anurag Bajpai was aimed at spreading awareness on road safety.

The run passed through Nityaipat Chuthek, Keishampat and Tiddim Road before coming back on the same route and wrapping up at Manipur State Museum complex.

Speaking to media persons, Anurag Bajpai said that Manipur is one of the States where the rate of road accident fatality is quite high.

As such, it is important to hold the Road Safety Month throughout the State, he said.

No family will suffer fatality or casualty if all the people abide by the road safety measures taken up by the Government from time to time, Anurag Bajpai said.

He said that road safety is a key aspect of life for every citizen and every family.

He said that the Road Safety Month 2026 is being observed in every district of the State.

It is a remarkable matter that more than 1000 people including media persons participated in the 10-Km run held today as a part of the National Road Safety Month.

He underscored the importance of obeying traffic rules, wearing helmets by bikers, avoiding over-speeding and wearing seat-belts while driving cars.

He also emphasised the importance of avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol.

The primary message of the run is preventing accidents from striking any individual/family, the Additional Chief Secretary added.

Transport Director Khumanthem Diana said that the run was aimed at promoting road safety awareness.

She said that the month of January is being observed as National Road Safety Month 2026 across the country.
