Seeking the support of Kwakta voters, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has predicted that Mairembam Prithiviraj, Congress candidate for the by-election to the Moirang Assembly Constituency would be able to win the by-election by getting not less than 20,000 votes if the public of Kwakta supported him and cast their votes in his favour.
Addressing election meetings at Kwakta Bazar as well as at INA complex, Moirang today, the Chief Minister said that the Congress party is confident that the people of Kwakta would extend full support and cast their votes in favour of the Congress candidate.
Describing Congress as the political party in India as well as in Manipur that would be able to protect the territorial integrity and promote communal harmony among the people, the Chief Minister said communal political parties like BJP should not be allowed to rear its head again.
The CM assured that after election as MLA, Prithiviraj would discuss developmental works that the people of Kwakta and Moirang would expect to be taken up and ensure implementation of the same.
Diligent public should not listen to what party hopping Opposition leaders of the MPP have been saying, he said.
Terming the recent violent incident at Kwakta as unfortunate, the Chief Minister appealed to the armed groups not to instigate communal riots.
He also appealed to the people not to flee from their houses and assured that the Government would take up every possible measures to ensure their protection.
RJD State Unit president MLA Md Hellaluddin Khan who also attended and spoke at these meetings, called upon the people to think over significant of the meetings participated by many Muslim leaders and cast their votes in favour of Congress party in due respect of these leaders.
He also appealed to armed group PULF not to challenge the election in consideration of the Muslims and withdraw the remarks published through newspapers.
MLA Md Kumud Ahemad Majumdar from Assam, who also participated in the meetings said that Muslim voters should restrain from casting their votes in favour of MPP as it would be detrimental to the interest of the Muslims.
He also hailed Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as the most efficient Chief Minister of the State.
Rural Development Minister Md Allauddin, MPCC president MLA Gaikha-ngam and MLA O Landhoni Devi, who is also the wife of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh were among many others who addressed the public in these meetings.
