Ukhrul, April 24 2026:
The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has expressed profound grief and strong condemnation following the killing of a Naga Village Guard, allegedly by Kuki militants operating under the SoO agreement today.
According to the TNL statement, 29 year old Horshokmi Jamang from Chatric Khullen Village in Kamjong district was killed in the early hours today near Sinakeithei village while on patrol duty.
The TNL is set to hold a condolence programme in honour of Horshokmi Jamang at TNL Hall in Wino Bazar tomorrow before his mortal remains are laid to rest in his native village.
In the statement, TNL made claims about escalating movements and disturbances allegedly carried out by armed Kuki SoO cadres and other militant groups along the Sirarakhong-Sinakeithei stretch which reportedly compelled NVGs stationed near Sirarakhong to intensify patrol operations.
During one such patrol exercise between Sirarakhong and Sinakeithei, the NVG team was reportedly ambushed, resulting in the immediate death of Horshokmi Jamang and injuring of four Naga Village Guards.
The TNL has described the incident as a grave act of aggression and maintained that Jamang laid down his life defending his ancestral land and community.
Asserting that his sacrifice would not be forgotten, the TNL said it symbolizes the resilience and determination of the Naga people.
The TNL has extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and lauded the fallen guard for his courage, valour, and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
It has also reiterated its concerns over continued militant activities in vulnerable areas.
