Imphal, July 22 2024:
Following the claim of a Government official that there is sufficient stock of LPG, IOCL's LPG Bottling Plant, Sekmai released 40 truck loads of packed LPG refill cylinders to distributors today.
Notably, shipment of POL and bulk LPG to Imphal has been facing severe constraints due to the extremely bad condition of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam highway) .
It is said that New Kaiphundai, Leingangpokpi to Kaimai Khunou, Nungkao, Oinamlong, 11 Mile, Tatbung and Nungba Makha (Kambiron) sections need immediate repair.
If 40 truck loads of packed LPG refills are released everyday as done today, the existing stock of LPG at the bottling plant will be completely exhausted in the next three days, sources informed.

In view of the existing stock which is highly depleted, it is not clear whether the bottling plant would release the same number of refills on consecutive days or not.
If the same number of refills released today is released every day consecutively and the loaded LPG bullet TTs which are moving on NH-37 cannot reach Imphal, the LPG stock at the Sekmai bottling plant will run out completely on the fourth day, said the sources.
Generally, 324 LPG cylinders can be loaded in a truck and most of the trucks which delivered LPG refills to distributors were loaded with 324 refills each.
As such, the bottling plant released around 12,960 refill cylinders to distributors today.
On the other hand, the 80 LPG bullet TTs which are moving on Imphal-Jiribam highway towards Imphal since the last couple of days could not reach the bottling plant till Monday.
Of the 40 truck loads of packed LPG refill cylinders released today, 38 distributors would get one truck load each while the other two truck loads would be divided among four distributors, said the sources.
A late report informed that the bottling plant would be releasing only 20 truck loads of packed LPG refill cylinders on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, movement of empty POL and LPG bullet TTs with CRPF escorts has been suspended for three days with effect from Monday.
Moreover, taking strong exception to rampant and exorbitant collection of illegal taxes on Imphal-Jiribam highway, POL and LPG transporters have already decided to stop transportation of POL and LPG with effect from August 1 .
