Cong tears apart anomalies in conduct of NEET, UGC-NET
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, June 21 2024: As in other parts of the country, the Congress party staged a sit-in in protest against the 'irregularities' in NEET (UG) exam 2024 and the UGC-NET fiasco at Congress Bhavan today.

Both NEET and NET examinations are conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) Former Chief Minister O Ibobi, MP elect Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, MPCC president K Meghachandra, CWC member Gaikhangam and other Congress party leaders took part in the protest demonstration.

Placards with inscriptions such as "Justice for NEET Aspirants", "Fraud NTA", "Scrap NTA", "We Want Justice for Paper Leak" and "Ban NEET Exam" were displayed during the protest.

Speaking to the media by the sideline, O Ibobi said that fraudulence in conducting NEET examination by NTA has led to loss of credibility of Indian students apart from demoralising the sincere students.

The Government failing to hold the prestigious competitive examinations like NEET and NET in a fair manner is very unfortunate, he added' .

Ibobi also said that the Government should never engage in corrupt activities when holding examinations or allow the students to cheat as it will ruin the future of countless students.

Dr Bimol said that many of the aspirants who prepared for the NEET examination for years would be distraught and disillusioned, Dr Bimol added that both the Government and the NTA are responsible for the fiasco.

He also said that the BJP voicing for "One Nation, One Language, One Culture" and trying to centralise the education sector show their disregard for the diversity of the country.

Dr Bimol went on to state that examinations being conducted by NTA have become a source of scam.

K Meghachandra said that UGG-NET examination 2024 got cancelled due to a paper leak.

Saying that the cancellation of the NET examination has jeopardised the future of many students and aspirants, the MPCC chief continued that the Government deciding to hold the examination again is against the interest of countless students.

Learning period is a very important phase in one's life, Meghachandra said and added that the future of this country will be very bleak if students are taught about money and muscle power during their learning phase.

Meritorious and promising students from poor families also won't get any chance to escape poverty and live a productive life if the competitive examinations are not conducted in a free and fair manner, he said.

Meghachandra also said that it would be very wrong if students from well off families and those in connection with people in power are given the upper hand in everything.

Claiming that all these cases of irregularities in examinations are reported from BJP ruled States, the Congress leader continued that there is outrage over the misconduct of NEET and NET examinations across the country.

The MPCC chief went on to state that the Central Government and the NTA wasting the time of NEET and NET aspirants is unacceptable.

Saying that it is the students from poor families who suffer more from the anomalies, Meghachandra added that many sincere students will lose all faith in the country and go astray if they are not given any opportunity to thrive.

The Congress leader said that they organised the protest demonstration under the supervision of AICC to seek justice for the students whose all hopes have been shattered by the Government and the NTA.
