Imphal, November 20 2019:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has strongly condemned the arrest of its assistant coordinator (as well as president of MMWO) Abdullah Phundreimayum at a time when the committee is working hard for the people in light of the Naga political issue and the looming threat of Citizenship Amendment Bill .
A statement issued by the assistant media coordinator of COCOMI today mentioned that Abdullah Phundreimayum has been contributing immensely in various alert protests and rallies by spreading awareness about the possible threats posed by the Naga peace solution to the integrity of Manipur.
COCOMI views his arrest as an act of intimidation by the State Government, it alleged, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of the arrested individual at the earliest.
On the other hand, the All Manipur Muslim Students' Organisation (AMMSO) has also strongly condemned the arrest of Abdullah Phundreimayum.
A statement issued by the secretary of publicity and information of AMMSO today said the act is an insult to the civil society organisations of the State and demanded the arrested individual to be released immediately.
