Imphal, June 19 2025:
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata has stated that he cannot say exactly when a new Government would be formed in the State.
There are reports of MLAs forming groups to form a popular Government and there are reports of the Centre considering to send officials/representatives to Imphal in connection with Government formation, he said.
Satyabrata was speaking at the inaugural function of the newly constructed Shree Shree Gopinath Mandap at Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai today.
"Being the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, it would not be right for me to comment much on the matter.
Moreover, I cannot join the MLAs in their efforts to form a popular Government", he said.
Exuding confidence that the MLAs would work in line with the people's pulse, the Speaker expressed strong belief that a political change will be seen in the State shortly.
After all, there is a time frame for keeping an elected Legislative Assembly under suspended animation, he added.
Yaiskul Naharol Shinglup Marup president Ashem Amuba Singh, Manipur State Kala Akademi awardee Achom Tampha Singh, Yaiskul Naharol Shinglup Marup secretary Laishram Pradeep Singh and YVO/YAC president Sorokhaibam Saratchandra attended the inaugural function as presidium members.
