CM assesses NSU infra development works

Chief Minister Yumnam Khem-chand Singh has stated that the ongoing infrastructure project at the National Sports University is slated for completion by the end of this year.
He visited the National Sports University, (NSU) at Koutruk, Imphal West to assess the status of the ongoing infrastructure development works of the university today, said CM's Secretariat in a statement.
At NSU, the Chief Minister was accorded a warm reception by the Vice-Chancellor of the university Daljit Singh Chaudhary, IPS (retd) former DG, BSF and other high-ranking officials.
A meeting was conducted at the academic building, where the Chief Minister was briefed by Anirban Roy, Assistant General Manager (AGM), National Building Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC) on the current status of the construction work being taken up at the university.
Khemchand was informed that the new campus will house a total of 60 faculty residential units.
The campus is also equipped with a multi-purpose sports hall spread across the ground and first floors.
Listening to the grievances raised by university officials, the Chief Minister informed that construction of the approach road will commence from next week.
He further stated that around six borewells will be dug to mitigate the shortage of water, as a temporary measure.
He also assured to deploy adequate security personnel, if necessary, to ensure the smooth and uninterrupted execution of works being undertaken.
Speaking to the media person, the Chief Minister informed that the total intake capacity of students of the campus will be around 1300 and the project is targeted to be completed by the end of this year.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for accomplishing his dream project to establish the country's only prestigious National Sports University in Manipur.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Heikham Dingo Singh.
Tongbram Robindro Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NSU Daljit Singh Chaudhary, Imphal West DC Mayanglambam Rajkumar Singh and other senior officials, among others.
While returning from the NSU, the Chief Minister made a stop at the Koutruk Community Hall where he was felicitated by the villagers.
Interacting with the villagers, the Chief Minister assured to look into the grievances being faced by them.
