Imphal, June 11 2025:
The CPI, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has urged the relevant authorities to immediately lift the ban on internet services, citing the hardships faced by the people.
Speaking to the media at Irawat Bhawan today, former secretary of CPI-MSC L Sotinkumar said that authorities in Manipur have made it a habit to ban internet service, with the State being one of the places where such bans have been in place for the longest duration, globally.
Expressing dismay over the frequent internet bans, he stated that the recent five-day restriction due to the Arambai Tenggol leader's arrest issue has severely impacted students and the public.

The internet ban has left people unable to send money to their children studying outside, and they also struggle to recharge their electricity bills, the Left leader said, urging the authorities to immediately lift the ban.
Sotinkumar, meanwhile, said that the BJP Government, instead of working towards restoring normalcy in Manipur, has been creating one problem after another.
He alleged that the authorities arrested the Arambai Tenggol leader to create unrest in the State, which is still reeling from the recent flood.
People are exhausted from facing one problem after another, Sotinkumar said and added that the State has been plagued by crises due to the BJP Government's inefficiency.
The BJP MLAs are frequenting New Delhi as if they are going to the market when Central leaders have refused to set foot in Manipur, the Left leader said and maintained that Manipur needs a new Government, not one led by the BJP.
He urged the Centre to to announce a special economic package for the flood victims and internally displaced people taking refuge in relief camps.
