Woman found murdered, gold ornaments, cash missing

Imphal, May 04 2026:
In a shocking incident a 63-year-old woman, Puspa Devi, was found brutally murdered at her house at Charhajare, under Gamnom Sapermeina police station, Kangpokpi district yesterday night.
Gold jewellery, cash and other valuable items have been reported to be missing.
Puspa Devi was the wife of Nakul Poudel.
The incident came to light this morning when locals who went to the residence found the woman lying in a pool of blood.
The woman's head bore injury marks.
Sources said the woman was suspected to have been hit by a blunt object.
Locals speculate that the incident might have happened last night.
Unknown assailants may have entered the house late in the night and knocked her dead before looting her gold ornaments, cash and other valuable items.
The woman was living with her mentally challenged younger brother.
After an inquest, the Gamnom Sapermeina police deposited the body at RIMS morgue.
The post mortem of the dead body was conducted this afternoon in presence of a Magistrate with full video coverage.
Family members have claimed the body for last rites.
While the gruesome incident has shocked the locals, the Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union has strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
In a statement, the Union said it was a barbaric and inhuman crime reflecting grave disregard for human life.
It urged the authorities concerned to ensure "swift justice and enhanced security for vulnerable citizens".
The Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangha (BGP) Manipur State Branch has also condemned the brutal murder of the woman in the strongest terms.
It has urged the State Government and law enforcement agencies to ensure prompt investigation, immediate arrest of the perpetrators and recovery of the stolen properties.
The organization also extended condolences to the bereaved family members.
