One enumerator detailed for collection of census data was threatened and forced to turn back from Bongbal Khullen, located between Senapati and Thoubal districts.
Enumerator Th Achou (52) of Leirongthel Bitra of Thoubal district went to Bongbal Khullen for census duty at about 8.40 am of June 21 .
But he was assaulted and threatened, forcing him to leave the village.
Achou is an Assistant Teacher in a Government school.
Though the assault was not very severe, Yairipok police, based on a report given by Achou, have registered a case and launched investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, the committee of officers headed by the Chief Secretary as Chairman held a meeting today and deliberated on overlapping of districts in different villages.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner (Home), the Commissioner (Revenue) and Deputy Commissioners.
The meeting agreed that the DCs concerned should furnish names of villages which have been included in more than one district for verification by Revenue Department.
There have been several cases of inclusion of Imphal West villages in Senapati district, Senapati villages in Imphal East and Chandel villages in Thoubal district.
