Muslim community of the state today lauded the Cabinet decision of providing grant-in-aid and government teachers to Madrasas with general education facilities.
A meeting of the Muslim Students Union Manipur held at the conference hall of the office of the union at Masjid road, Paona Bazar, Imphal today welcome the decision of the state cabinet taken yesterday.
While appreciating the decision, they said it was "bold decision" of the cabinet to provide grantin-aid and five government teachers in each to 30 selected Madrasa for providing general education.
Participating in the meeting, MOBC minister Md Allaudin Khan lauded Chief Minister O Ibobi and said "a leader with broad outlook who works without any discrimination on sectorial line based on community".

Md Allaudin Khan said Muslim community in the state is still lagging behind economically, educationally and in other areas.
Though Madrasa are good place for learning on religious teachings absence of general education has unable to qualified for government jobs.
Realizing the lacunae, the government put up the agenda in yesterday's meeting and took the decision to extend grant-in-aid for including general education in Madrasas for the educational and economic improvement of the Muslims, the Cabinet minister said.
General Secretary of the Federation of Madrasa Manipur, Salatur Rahman while talking to reporters said that the decision of the state cabinet is welcomed by all section of Muslim community of the state.
Though Madrasas are meant for studying Muslim religious book, the Quran, there is no rigidity for studying only Quran in Madrasas, keeping pace with advancement in society including modern education is not adverse to it, he said.
He further said that inclusion of modern education to Madrasa is still a debate among the Muslims in India because of which India government is still not in position to pass bill for inclusion of modern education teaching method in Madrasas.
The state cabinet decision to include general education in madrasas in Manipur was a historic decision as it was taken when the Central government is unable to take decision on the matter.
He also credited the historic decision to Chief Minister O Ibobi and cabinet ministers of the SPF government.
He also selectively gave the credit to the lone Cabinet Minister from Muslim, Md Allaudin Khan for the decision.
At the end the meeting, the participants prayed for translating the state cabinet decision into work at the earliest.
