2-day JJ Act meet draws to a close

A 2-day State level consultation meeting on implementation of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2015 has concluded at City Convention Centre, Imphal today.
The stakeholders' meet was organised by the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD) New Delhi and Manipur Government's -Social Welfare Department.
Social Welfare Department Director Anna Arambam, SPNIWCD Joint Director Dr Sanghamitra Barik, officials of relevant departments of the Government and Stakeholders including District Child Protection Officers attended the meet.
Speaking on the occasion, Social Welfare Director Anna Arambam stressed on the importance of implementing the Juvenile Justice Act and Mission Vatsalya.
The Mission Vatsalya is a National scheme with a State-level implementation in Manipur, focused on ensuring a healthy and happy childhood for all children by providing a supportive ecosystem for their development and protection.
Anna said the consultation meeting was focused on finding the gaps and challenges in implementing the Act and schemes meant for protection of children.
She said the stakeholders, during the meeting, discussed ways to incorporate welfare measures for internally displaced children in the Mission Vatsalya.
SPNIWCD Joint Director Dr Sanghamitra Barik also echoed concern for internally displaced children staying in relief camps.
She said the internally displaced children may be put in a special category and appropriate measures and schemes to rehabilitate them may be included in the Mission Vatsalya in consultation with the Social Welfare Department.
Stakeholders and resource persons spoke on various facets of Mission Vatsalya, Juvenile Justice Act and relevant schemes and missions for welfare and development of children.
