NAMA, RIST honor outstanding researchers

The North American Manipur Association (NAMA) and the Research Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) honored exceptional PhD candidates from Manipur at the 2025 NAMA Research Grant Award Ceremony.
The event, held at the conference hall of the Department of Physics, Manipur University on Friday, recognised two outstanding researchers: Aheibam Robertson Singh and Yengkhom Haripriya Devi, for their groundbreaking work in anthropology and physics, respectively.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University; Dr Raju Huidrom, general secretary, NAMA; Prof Sumitra Phanjoubam, Dean, School of Mathematical & Physical Sciences, MU; Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Dean, School of Human & Environmental Science, MU; and Prof N Nimai Singh, Director of RIST, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Lokendra praised the joint initiative by NAMA and RIST for supporting young researchers in Manipur.
He highlighted the programme's alignment with the multidisciplinary approach envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.Recognizing RIST's contributions to science and technology research, Prof Lokendra also addressed the institute's initial challenges and assured that the previously allocated building for the Electronic Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) would be provided for RIST's office use.
The awardees received recognition for their innovative research, addressing local and global challenges.
Six other candidates received honorable mentions for their outstanding applications.
