A one-day training programme for volunteer teachers of the ULLAS - Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram also known as the New India Literacy Programme (NILP) was held today at the Panchayat Resource Centre (PRC) Hall, DC Office Complex, Bishnupur.
The programme ULLAS focuses on imparting functional literacy including reading, writing, and numeracy skills, and enriches learners with critical life skills, fostering lifelong learning.
Implemented through volunteerism, it aims to empower adults aged 15 and above from all backgrounds who missed formal schooling, helping them integrate into society and contribute to the nation's growth.
Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam inaugurated the training programme which was organised by the District Literacy Mission Authority (DLMA), Bishnupur.
