Nationalistic spirit marks 77th Republic Day celebration

Imphal, January 27 2026:
The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with patriotic fervour across the State on January 26 .
At Forest Headquarters, the National Flag was ceremoniously unfurled by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force (PCCF & HoFF) ACS Anurag Bajpai in the presence of senior officers and staff of the Forest Department.
This was followed by the singing of the National Anthem, Parade Nirikshan and Rashtriya salute by the frontline staff of Forest Department creating an atmosphere of pride, unity, and national spirit.
Officers and staff stood in respectful attention, reaffirming their commitment to the ideals and values enshrined in the Constitution of India.
Addressing the gathering, the PCCF & HoFF said Republic Day reminds everyone that India is held together not by geography alone, but by constitutional values - justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.
These values are not abstract ideals; they are guiding principles for governance, public service and peaceful coexistence in a diverse Nation, he said.
He urged people to remember that the strength of the Republic lies not in authority alone, but in empathy, integrity and service.
Every sincere effort to restore confidence, deliver justice and promote harmony reinforces the foundation of India's democracy.
The PCCF & HoFF further emphasized the collective responsibility of public servants in Nation building and appreciated the dedicated efforts of forest personnel in conservation of forests and protection of wildlife.
The 77th Republic Day was also celebrated at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa yesterday.
The momentous occasion was marked in the prison premises along with officers and personnel from Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, 5 IRB and SSB.
The Tricolour flag was unfurled by the Superintendent of Prison, Syed Abdul Samad, MPS .
The guard of honour was given by Syed Sukur, Jemadar, 5 IRB.
During the ceremony, Commendation Certificates were distributed to both the officers and personnel of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa and 5 IRB .
Snacks were also distributed by the Superintendent to the inmates of the Jail and Foreigners Detention Centre, Sajiwa.
Additionally, RIMS, Imphal, joined the celebration of the 77th Republic Day in front of the Administration Block.
At the event, Director Professor G Sunil Kumar Sharma, hoisted the Tricolour National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, in the presence of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and members of the RIMS community.
Addressing the gathering, the Director extended Republic Day greetings and highlighted the significance of the day as a symbol of democracy, justice, equality, and constitutional values, paying tribute to freedom fighters and the framers of the Constitution.
Reviewing the past year, he noted major achievements including nearly five lakh OPD visits, over 54,000 inpatient admissions, expansion of surgical services, and strengthening of super-speciality departments such as neurosurgery, cardiovascular surgery, and paediatric surgery.
He also highlighted RIMS's completion of one year as a Centre of Excellence for Rare Diseases, the first in the North East, providing financial assistance up to Rs 50 lakh to eligible patients.
Academic and infrastructural developments, including enhancement of postgraduate seats, proposed MDS courses, NABH and NABL accreditation initiatives, the new OPD Hub, construction of a 150-bedded Critical Care Block, and longterm campus redevelopment plans were also shared.
In conclusion, the Director appreciated the dedication of all staff.
The programme included patriotic song performances by students, followed by distribution of sweets to patients in hospital wards by the Medical Superintendent in the presence of Heads of Departments.
