Workshop on Ta-Khousaba underway

A ten-day workshop on Ta-Khoushaba organised by the Bishnupur District Huyel Langion Thang -Ta Association yesterday at Nambol Kakyai.
The programme is being organised with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, said the Bishnupur District Huyel Langion Thang -Ta Association in a press release.
The programme was formally opened in the presence of Dr Huidrom Premkumar, president Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur; Nongthombam Noren, secretary, Luwang Thang-Ta Academy, Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai; Sagolshem Samananda, Principal, Association of Thang-Ta Martial Arts, Hiyangthang and Laithangbam Chandramani Singh, secretary, Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association, Wangoi as presidium members, it said.
As many as 99 students from 7 different Thang-Ta units are participating in the workshop.
Speaking as the chief guest of the event, H Premkumar said that there are 9 different forms of Ta-Khousarol and are being preserved and named after different communities dwelling in the State.
It was being told by learned elders that "Ta Khoushaba" was an element of cultural and social integration among the valley and hill dwellers since time immemorial, he noted.
He also highlighted possible issues that might arise over the naming of these Ta-Khousharol and stressed on the need for rectification where there is still time, the release added.
