National Panchayati Raj Day celebrated

Imphal, April 24 2026:
The State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) for Watershed Management, Manipur, celebrated National Panchayati Raj Day today at the Old Secretariat's Conference Hall.
The event, held under the PMKSY WDC 2.0, brought together officials and stakeholders to discuss the vital role of local governance in rural development.
Dr Rajkumari Sunita Devi, Chief Executive Officer of SLNA (WM), addressed the gathering, emphasizing that Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) are essential for strengthening grassroots democracy.
She highlighted the necessity of exploring new collaborations with these local bodies to ensure the successful implementation of the PMKSY WDC 2.0 project.
District officials and Watershed Committee members held a discussion to share strategies and field experiences.
Senior Finance Officer Ng Rajesh Singh and 30 participants, including Watershed Committee members and SLNA staff, attended the programme.
The programme ended with SLNA reaffirming its commitment to participatory governance and sustainable resource management through grassroots institutions.
Similarly, National Panchayati Raj Day was also celebrated today at the Khundrakpam Gram Panchayat training hall, Imphal East-I, CD Block Sawombung.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including S Tombi Devi, ex-Pradhan; P Ibochouba Singh, national general secretary of All India Panchayat Parishad; U Indrakumar Singh, Member of Khundrakpam Zilla Parishad; M Sohodeba Singh, Consultant (PR&RD); and L Kamal Singh.
