SSUM demands departmental enquiry

Imphal, August 23 2025: The Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has urged the authorities concerned to initiate a departmental enquiry against Prof L Hemchandra, Nodal Officer, Dhanamanjuri Community College (DMCC), DM University.

In a release, SSUM expressed disappointment over the current state of DMCC which was known for its cost-effective and holistic education.

SSUM alleged that Prof L Hemchandra has been running the college as his own property, hiking fees arbitrarily and admitting students more than the seat limit.

SSUM also alleged that due to the high-headed and inefficient administration of the Nodal Officer, the Star College Scheme funded by DBT (2018-2019) andNSQF Scheme sponsored by UGC have failed in the college, causing a lot of difficulties to the students.

The student body also accused Prof Hemchandra of misappropriating funds meant for 'Teacher-Learning" and added that complaint letters will be sent to Vigilance, CBI and other agencies to investigate the matter.

SSUM further urged the authorities concerned to replace Prof L Hemchandra as Nodal Officer with a more competent & experienced teacher to save the college and future of the students.
