CBC Imphal hosts outreach programme on 'Viksit Bharat @ 2047 & Nari Shakti' in Heirok

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal, in collaboration with Village Level Federations (VLFs) of Heirok, Thoubal district, organised a Special Outreach Programme at Laipung Community Hall, Heirok Part III, Thoubal district on Monday.
The programme centred on the pivotal themes of "Viksit Bharat @ 2047" and "Nari Shakti Through Financial Inclusion," with a focus on empowering rural women through economic literacy and self-reliance.
Addressing the gathering, District Mission Manager of Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM), RK Nikita, highlighted that national development is tethered to gender equality.
While noting Manipur's progressive record in producing women entrepreneurs and social activists, she pointed out the persistence of double standards at the grassroots level regarding women's rights.
"For true empowerment to manifest, women must empower themselves by becoming financially independent," she said, urging participants to actively engage with MSRLM-promoted SelfHelp Groups (SHGs), open individual savings accounts, and adopt digital financial tools.
During the technical session, District Coordinator (Financial Inclusion), MSRLM, Nishipriya Ningthoujam, who served as resource person, elaborated on financial services tailored for women, including insurance and recurring deposit schemes.
She also highlighted preferential lending provisions under which women entrepreneurs can avail loans at interest rates 2% lower than standard rates.
Procedures for SHGs to access loans for collective enterprises were also explained, along with the importance of maintaining active bank accounts to ensure long-term financial responsibility.
Chief guest, M Priyaroshni, Assistant Commissioner, representing the District Administration, reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting rural women.
She assured that the administration would extend necessary support to enhance financial awareness and encouraged participants to take concrete steps towards self-reliance.
Earlier, Dr N Reena, Field Publicity Officer, CBC RO Imphal, delivered the keynote address, underscoring the role of the Central Bureau of Communication in disseminating information about government schemes and bridging the information gap, She stressed that such outreach initiatives are vital in realising the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047.The program concluded with an interactive session where local women shared their experiences and sought guidance on banking and entrepreneurship.
A spot quiz was also conducted, followed by cultural performances presented by local artistes, including groups from Imphal Artists Union and Achouba Artist Association.
