Jiribam, July 22 2026:
Helping Hands Zeliangrongpui Chapter, in association with Brotherhood, Nongpok Sanjenbam, organised a voluntary blood donation camp at the RIMS Blood Centre, Lamphel,on Wednesday, aiming to ensure timely availability of blood for Zeliangrongpui patients undergoing treatment at hospitals in Imphal Valley.
The initiative was launched in view of the difficulties faced by patients from the hill districts who are referred to Imphal for specialised medical treatment.
With the prevailing situation in Manipur making it difficult for family members and donors to travel to Imphal during emergencies, the chapter has been working to establish a dependable network of voluntary blood donors from the Zeliangrongpui community living, studying and working in Imphal Valley.
The camp saw enthusiastic participation from the community, with 87 donors registering for the drive.
Of them, 56 successfully donated blood.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all the donors and supporting organisations, including Brotherhood, Nongpok Sanjenbam, Zeliangrong Film Forum, Tingkao Ragwang Chapriak Phom, churches, village authorities, youth organisations, student bodies, community leaders, volunteers and well-wishers for their support.
The participation of donors from the Meitei community alongside Zeliangrongpui donors was also highlighted as an inspiring gesture symbolising unity, brotherhood and mutual care during challenging times.
Speaking on the occasion, Helping Hands Zeliangrongpui Chapter convenor Alanpuna Dhangmei said, "This is only the beginning.
Our vision is that no Zeliangrongpui patient should suffer due to the unavailability of blood during a medical emergency" .
He appealed to more youths from the hill districts residing in Imphal Valley to join the movement and become a source of hope for those in need.
