Noise level reaches 86 dB

Imphal, October 21 2025:
Noise level at Imphal city on the night of Diwali festival and the previous night reached 86 decibel.
The Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) measured the noise level of Imphal city on October 13, October 20 and today at MG Avenue, Thangal Keithel and Keishampat Nityaipat Chuthek.
The noise level at MG Avenue was higher than at Keishampat.
According to information received from the MPCB, MG Avenue recorded a noise level of 69.10 dB between 6 pm and 7 pm on October 13 and the noise level dropped as the hours went by.
The noise level reached 86.70 dB at MG Avenue between 6 pm and 9 pm on Monday.
At the time of filing this report today, MG Avenue recorded a noise level of 83.50 dB.
This noise level is higher than the permissible limit laid down by the Central Pollution Control Board.
Permissible noise levels as per the Central Pollution Control Board are 75 dB during day time and 70 dB at night in industrial areas, and 65 dB during day and 55 dB at night in commercial areas.
