Mass Yoga demonstration session marks 10th International Yoga Day celebration

The 10th International Yoga Day celebration under the theme "Yoga for Self and Society" was marked by mass Yoga demonstration sessions across the State today promoting the holistic benefits of Yoga.
Chandel
The 10th International Yoga Day was celebrated at Keithelmanbi community hall in Chandel district today organised by the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Field Office, Chandel.
As a resource person, Bharat Swabhiman Trust Kakching district president N Geetchandra spoke on the multiple benefits of Yoga.
Yoga demonstration, public rally and quiz competition marked the celebration today which was graced by Smart Life Academy Chandel Principal John Kobari, Keithelmanbi Village, Local Catechist SK Shelwar and Lamkang Naga KVER Kunpun Chandel general secretary Paul Thamsem as the presidium members.
The United College, Lambung also celebrated the day at the multipurpose hall of the college participated by teachers, students, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers and officials of the college, Khungpham Junior High School; Residential Model School, Mantripantha and Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Chandel.
Kakching
International Yoga Day was celebrated today at Ananda Singh Yoga and Nature Cure Research Hospital Kakching and at Martin Grammar School Kakching jointly organised by the International Naturopathy Organisation (INO) New Delhi; Surya Foundation New Delhi; Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga New Delhi; National Institute of Naturopathy (NIN) Pune and Kha Manipur Yoga and Nature Cure Association Kakching and Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
Kangpokpi
A one day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on International Day of Yoga was organised by the Field Office, Senapati under the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting at Kanglatongbi community hall, Kangpokpi district today.
The event was attended by Shiva Kumar Basnet (former Pradhan) Gram Panchayat, Kanglatongbi as the chief guest while Praveen Koirala, Yoga instructor as the guest of honour and as resource person and demonstrator.
Praveen Koirala spoke about the benefits of Yoga, and he demonstrated various asanas to the participants during the programme.
Staff of the Field Office, Senapati and the people of Kanglatongbi participated in the Yoga demonstration.
Later, a yoga awareness rally was also carried out from the Kanglatongbi community hall to the Kanglatongbi market.
T-shirts were also distributed to the people gathered on the occasion.
Pherzawl
Deputy Commissioner of Pherzawl, Asish Das led the main event of International Yoga Day celebration at the Conference Hall of DC Office complex and participated in a yoga session attended by various district officials and staff.
ZEO Pherzawl also joined the celebration by conducting yoga sessions in several schools including Sumtuh JB School, Buolmuol Upper Primary School and Leijangphai High School.
Students and teachers participated in these sessions that aim to enhance personal well-being and contribute to the betterment of society.
Additionally, BDO Vangai and the Health Department also commemorated Yoga Day.
Senapati
The 10th International Day of Yoga under the theme "Yoga for self and Society" was observed today at the premises of Compassion Children Ministries, Kathikho Karong in Senapati district.
The programme was jointly organised by AYUSH, District Hospital, Senapati, NYK, Senapati and CCM, Senapati under the aegis of District Administration, Senapati.
In today's programme, Dr Sylvia, MO in-charge AYUSH wing District Hospital, Senapati briefed on the importance ofYoga.
Various yoga postures were also demonstrated led by Jeite Samuel Koireng which was participated by District Level Officers, school and college students.
Thoubal
With an aim to strengthen efforts to build a healthy nation with active participation from the grassroot level, three Community Health Centres (CHCs), eight Primary Health Centres (PHCs), two Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) and 37 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Health and Wellness Centre) located at Thoubal Khunou, Athokpam, Tentha, Kiyam Litanpok, Thokchom Bengi, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai among others.
The observation was also held at various Gram Panchayats, Village Panchayats, schools and Anganwadi Centres in the district namely Wangjing Tentha Block Sapam, Lourembam and Tentha among others to inspire people, particularly the youth to embrace a sustainable and stress-free lifestyle.
Meanwhile, International Yoga Day was also celebrated by the officers, JCO's and jawans along with 20 school students at C coy 165 INF BN (TA) (H & H) at Thoubal today morning.
During the programme Major Devankur, Company Commander addressed the children and spoke about the benefits of Yoga in both physical and mental state of an individual.
The celebration of International Yoga Day was also held at the Thoubal District Police Headquarters.
Ukhrul
Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Ukhrul in collaboration with Tangrei Youth Organization, NCC, NSS jointly organised the International Yoga Day celebration at Tangrei community Hall, Ukhrul.
The celebration, which began at 7 in the morning, was participated by a group of Tangrei youth leaders and children of Tangrei Anganwadi centres.
During the celebration, instructor Peingamla NYK Volunteers of Ukhrul enlightened the youth about the importance of practising Yoga daily.
Peingamla conducted a brief yoga session and she demonstrated the various yoga steps.
In a separate programme, the Tangrei Anganwadi centre also celebrated the day by conducting yoga exercises for Anganwadi children of the locality to commemorate International Yoga Day.
Assam Rifles
In line with the International Yoga Day celebration, Assam Rifles conducted Yoga events in various villages across Kangpokpi, Noney, Senapati, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal districts today.
The events garnered a significant footfall of over 4000 people attending the events at more than 30 locations.
The officials of District Administration, police and security forces were also a part of the celebration along with the locals.
During the celebration, the participants were educated about the holistic benefits of Yoga.
The locals learned from the experts about the connection between Yoga and well-being followed by a demonstration of various asanas.
Qualified instructors explained during the events how Yoga asanas can improve strength, flexibility and mindfulness making Yoga a practice for both physical and mental well-being.
At KLP ground Moreh Assam Rifles Garrison, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) came together to celebrate International Day of Yoga.
At Integrated Check Post, Moreh and at multiple Company Operating Bases of Assam Rifles yoga sessions witnessed participation of over 620 combined troops from CAPF.
The event highlighted the discipline and unity within the forces as they performed various asanas in synchronized movements, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles and staff of Tamenglong District Administration along with the local populace celebrated International Yoga Day at Apollo ground in Tamenglong district today.
The District Administration, Bishnupur also joined the rest of the world in observing the 10th International Yoga Day at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong today.
