Imphal, December 20 2012:
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar has given his assent to discuss whether or not the statement made by Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde over the decision of the State Assembly to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur, amounts to Breach of Privilege and Contempt of House, in the next sitting.
The Speaker gave consent after the issue was raised by Opposition MLA Dr I Ibohalbi on the floor of the House today.
While raising the motion, Dr I Ibohalbi asserted that the statement of Union Home Minister over the decision of the State Assembly to implement ILP in the State, which was unanimously adopted on July 23, was not only a mockery of the State Assembly but also an insult to all members of the House.
The MLA also demanded to know whether the Speaker or the Assembly Secretary had given any response to the remarks of Sushil kumar Shinde or not, and pointed out that the Speaker himself could take up a suo-moto case over the matter.
