Bishnupur DC convenes key meetings on narcotics control, transgender welfare and social protection

Bishnupur, November 19 2025:
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, today chaired a district-level NCORD Committee Meeting at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The meeting focused on strengthening the district's response to narcotics-related issues.
Members discussed a range of topics including the cultivation of poppy in adjoining areas, welfare measures for drug abusers, enforcement activities by security agencies, tracking of drug-abuse patients, regulation of drug stores and licenses, and creating awareness in educational institutions.
The meeting was attended by the SP Bishnupur, DFO, and other district-level officials.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner also convened a meeting on SOGIESC and "The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and the Rules, 2020" .
Discussions centered on transgender-inclusive policies and services across sectors such as health, education, social protection, and legal support.
The DC announced that a District Level Transgender Protection Cell will soon be constituted to ensure the welfare and protection of transgender persons in the district.
In the afternoon, Pooja also chaired the District Planning Committee Meeting, which reviewed and recommended eligible beneficiaries for various social welfare schemes aimed at empowering Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), destitute senior citizens, and widows.
A physical assessment camp for PwDs and senior citizens also commenced today at the DDRC, DC Office Complex, Bishnupur.
The camp will continue across different areas of the district until December 1, 2025 .
Eligible individuals wanting to avail benefits under Ihe ADIP scheme are requested to furnish their Aadhaar card, income proof (ration card or income certificate), UDID certificate, and a recent photograph.
