Thoubal, June 19 2025: A hand-grenade was found planted at the gate of the residence of one Ningombam Babu Singh (64), a special contractor, at Thoubal Okram Maning Leikai today.The bomb was noticed in the morning at around 6 by Babu's elder brother while cleaning the residence.

Thoubal police were informed, and later, the hand-grenade was recovered later.

Following the incident, Meira Paibis and locals staged a sit-in protest at Okram Keithel Community Hall.

The womenfolk and the locals condemned the planting of bomb in the locality, and urged the groups or individuals involved to claim responsibility and avoid such activities in the future.

The incident has caused fear psychosis among the locals.

The bomb could have exploded and hurt innocent civilians including children, they said, urging the groups responsible to clarify their intentions and motive.
