Imphal, November 16 2025:
YK Dhiren, president of All Manipur Press Association (AMPA), has expressed concern that textbook printing for the 2026 academic session for Class I to X hasn't started yet, despite the year being in its final months.
He attributed the delay to the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) not issuing the necessary orders.
AMPA observed its 54th foundation day at Manipur Press Club today.
Addressing the function, Dhiren appealed to BOSEM and other relevant authorities to make the papers for printing textbooks available as soon as possible to ensure a smooth academic session next year.
Saying that BOSEM has been providing printing orders for textbooks and materials to local firms, he added that there has been a delay this year and printing for the 2026 academic session hasn't started yet due to BOSEM not issuing the orders.
Dhiren warned that the next academic session may be disrupted if the textbooks are not available on time, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
He said that they have also raised the issue to the Education Commissioner, BOSEM Chairman and Secretary.
He continued that the printing press industry has been contributing to the State's economy and needs Government support to grow further.
Dhiren proposed that the Manipur Government can boost the local printing industry by awarding printing contracts to local private firms, rather than outsourcing them to other States.
The programme was also attended by Wangkhei AC MLA Th Arunkumar, BOSEM Chairman Akham Joykumar, Secretary Jitelal Sharma, All Manipur Working Journalist' Union president Asem Bhakta as presidium members.
During the observance, a wall calendar for 2026 was also released.
