Imphal, October 15 2025: The general strike called by various banned outfits protesting the merger of Manipur with India on October 15, 1949, severely disrupted normal life across Manipur today.

Markets, schools, and colleges in the valley districts viz Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur and Thoubal remained closed, while passenger vehicles, including inter-district services, stayed off the road.

Oil pumps, banks, and the majority of shops were also shut, farther disrupting daily activities.

Attendance at Government offices was minimal.

Health services, water supply, other emergency services, and religious activities were exempted from the strike.
