Imphal, May 15 2025:
Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL) celebrated its 15th foundation day at Manipur Press Club on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) coordinator Khuraijam Athouba expressed strong disapproval of the central government's approach to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
He bemoaned the failure of the government of India to recognise the crisis in Manipur as an act of terrorism, when it has promptly labelled the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, as such.
Athouba criticised the government's double standards, stating that treating the attackers in Pahalgam as enemies of the state, while dismissing the terrorist acts in Manipur as actions carried out by "our own people", is completely unacceptable and worthy of condemnation under all circumstances.
He announced that the decisions and resolutions adopted during the public meeting held to mark two years of the ongoing crisis in Manipur will be submitted to the central government and actively followed up.
"The resolutions aim to find a lasting solution to the crisis and to prevent external forces from destabilising or destroying Manipur," he revealed.
Former JNIMS director Dr Laishram Deben, who attended the event as the chief guest, expressed concern over the challenges faced by children affected by the crisis, particularly those taking shelter in relief camps.
He noted that many are struggling to continue their education due to difficulties in paying admission and monthly fees.
He shared that he has personally supported a girl student by covering her educational expenses for five years and pledged to continue helping other students in need.
Presided over by KIL president RK Sanahanbi, the event was also attended by Kan-glamei president Yumnam Leirik Leima, KIL advisor Ningthoukhongjam Basanti and IMC ward number 8 corporator Tourangbam Indrajit Meitei as guests of honour.
