Awareness programmes on child marriage and child trafficking held

A one-day legal awareness programme was held today as part of the 100 days intensive campaign for child marriage free India" at Brighter Angels School, Samaram, Thoubal district.
The programme was organised by Legal Aid Clinic (LAC), Samaram in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Thoubal (DLSA), sponsored by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MSLA) Lamphelpat under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority (NLSA).
The event was attended by P Sanjoy Singh, former Chairperson, Samaram Gram Panchayat as the chief guest; Ng Manidhaja Singh, Principal, Brighter Angels School as the functional president; Advocate Mayanglambam Swami Singh, panel lawyer of DLSA Thoubal as resource person and NEIGRIMHS Shillong MBBS Junior Resident Dr M Ingobi Singh as the guest of honour.
Dhanajit Sagolshem, Para Legal Volunteer (PLV), LAC, Samaram delivered the keynote address.
Dr M Ingobi Singh spoke about "The Possible Consequence of Child Marriage in Health Sector" and Advocate Mayanglambam Swami tackled the topic "Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006".Separately, as part of the Nationwide campaign "Freedom from Child Trafficking 3.0" led by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), an awareness programme on child trafficking and child rights was successfully conducted today at Machi High School, Machi, Tengnoupal District.
According to a statement, the programme was organized by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the District Administration, Tengnoupal and Ford Foundation.
