Statue of slain commando Jiten unveiled

Bishnupur, May 13 2025: Thanga MLA Tongbram Robin-dro on Tuesday unveiled a statue installed in memory of Manipur police commando Heisnam Jiten, who was killed in firing by suspected Kuki militants on May 11, 2023 while on duty at Tronglaobi Maning.

The unveiling ceremony organised by jointly Thanga Heisnam Chingkha Club and Meira Paibi was attended by MLA Robindro, All Thanga Apunba Meira Paibi co-convenor Salam Leinungshi Leima, and ex-pradhan Oinam Romen as presidium members.

As a part of the unveiling programme, floral tributes were paid to the statue of Heisnam Jiten, as a mark of respect.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Robindro expressed that Heisnam Jiten, the first from Thanga AC to lay down his life for Manipur during the ongoing conflict, and all those who sacrificed for Manipur will be remembered forever.

Stating that simply paying respect to these brave souls will not suffice, he appealed to all to shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding Manipur.
