Cultural bodies stage new productions, conclude workshops

Two cultural workshops under State Government schemes concluded with public performances in Imphal East.
Manipur Cultural Ashram (MCA) concluded its 30-day workshop cum production of "Mon-Mojillu (Nata Sankirtana)" at Community Hall No 5, Wangkhei Ningthem Puthri Mapal Makha Leirak.
The programme was held under the Chief Ministergi Artistesinggi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme of the Art & Culture Department, Government of Manipur Joint Director, Art & Culture, G Dharmadas Shanna attended as chief guest, retired Assistant Professor, Department of Manipuri, Manipur University of Culture Dr Makhonmani Mongsaba as president and Assistant Professor (HoD), Department of Sankirtana, Manipur University of Culture Dr Lourembam Dhaneshwor as guest of honour.
At the event, G Dharmadas urged artists to perform Nata Sankirtana singing with more dedication and called for joint efforts to promote Manipuri culture at national and international levels.
In another programme, Centre for Cultural Development and Training Organisation, Singjamei Chanam Pukhri Mapal, staged Kabui folk dance 'Lang Dai' at Multipurpose Community Hall, Khurai, after a workshop under the CMAT Scheme.
The function was attended by Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Phanjoubam Iboton Singh as chief guest, State Kala Akademi Awardee Loitongbam Brajamohan as president and Lecturer of Kashan Khullen Hr Sec School Golmei Kumar Rongmei as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Iboton Singh said organising a workshop on the beautiful Kabui dance Lang Dai and producing it under CMAT is a commendable step.
He urged for similar efforts to produce various dance forms of communities residing in Manipur in future.
The new production of 'Lang Dai' was presented at the end of the programme.
