Scholarship recipients announced

Imphal, September 11 2025: MaolKeki Foundation has announced the recipients of the 2025 MaolKeki Memorial Johnstone Higher Secondary School Scholarships.

This year, three scholarships of Rs 5,000 each were awarded to a student each from the Arts, Commerce and Science streams to cover academic fees and expenses.

As per a release issued by MaolKeki Foundation, there were multiple applications and based on academic performance, two brief essays and an interview round, Alex Haobijam (Arts), Laishram Wanglen Singh (Commerce), and Aerison Saikhom (Science), all students of Class XI at the Johnstone Higher Secondary School were selected for the scholarship.

The scholarship certificates and the cash rewards were given out during a ceremony held at the school on Wednesday morning by Bidyakumari Gurumayum, trustee of MaolKeki Foundation, along with Maisnam Saya Devi, Principal of Johnstone Higher Secondary School.

Also present at the awards ceremony alongside the faculty members of the school were Ranjit Hidangmayum (trustee elect), Memory Chirom (accountant), Themshingphi Kongkhay (project manager), and Ruth Moirangthem (junior accountant) from the MaolKeki Foundation.

Notably, the MaolKeki Memorial Johnstone Higher Secondary School Scholarships were instituted by (L) Dr Tonsana Gurumayum and his family in April 2021 .

(L) Dr Tonsana was an alumnus of Johnstone Higher Secondary School and retired as the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department, Government of Manipur.

As an alumnus, this was his way of giving back to his school established in 1885 by Sir James Johnstone- to support academically bright students achieve their dreams.
