Office locked in protest

Imphal, July 11 2025:
Led by the Valley & Hill Labour Group (VHLG), Manipur, construction workers gheroad the office of the Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board near Takyel ITI and subsequently locked the office in pursuance of their demands.
According to a press release issued by VHLG, Th Sakhi Devi, secretary, VHLG and L Bihari, president, VHLG presented their demands to the officials of the Board, which include i) disbursement of unpaid bank returns for 2021, ii) education benefits of 2022, iii) medical, maternity and death benefits, iv) benefits to construction workers who are 60 years or above, v) resume long-delayed initiatives for the welfare of construction labour groups, vi) allow new construction workers to register at the Board and vii) brief the public about the yearly amount collected in construction cess.
The workers wielded placards highlighting their demands.
They also took out a rally within the campus of the Board.
