NABARD calls for unity to empower women leaders

Imphal, March 11 2026: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Manipur Regional Office, celebrated "International Women's Day, 2026" today at the Sangai Hall, Hotel Imphal.

The event held on the theme "Give to Gain", advocated for collective action to build a future where women are empowered to lead and succeed.

Speaking on the occasion, Partha Mandal, General Manager/Officer-in-Charge of NABARD, Manipur Regional Office, emphasized the day's goal to reaffirm the commitment to the ideals of equality, dignity, and empowerment of women.

He stated that the "Give to Gain" theme reflects the truth that investing in women leads to stronger families, resilient communities, and a more inclusive socio-economic order.

Mandal highlighted NABARD's role in placing women at the center of rural development initiatives, mentioning the Self-Help Group (SHG) Bank Linkage Programme and the SHE Mart initiative.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, N Bandana Devi, Secretary, Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship (SLEE) and State Mission Director, MSRLM, noted that the occasion provided a platform for women to share experiences.

She highlighted the success of MSRLM in strengthening the role of over 1.3 lakh women in the State through SHGs.

Bandana Devi stressed the importance of maintaining good health as a crucial foundation for women's empowerment.

Presentations on NABARD initiatives by Thokchom Kiran Singh, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Manipur RO, Imphal; E-commerce on ONDC platform by Gautami Laimayum of Team Addble; experience sharing by Rajkumari Binita Devi, proprietor of M/S Binita Mushroom Centre; stalls showcasing a range of SHG products promoted by MSRLM and felicitation of women staff of NABARD Manipur RO, Imphal were the other highlights of the event.

Tara Devi Yadav, Second-In-Command, 109 Bn CRPF; N Gomti Chanu, Deputy Commandant, 109 Bn CRPF; N Sadhana Devi, Bank Medical Officer of NABARD; and Dineshor Thoudam, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Manipur RO, Imphal were also present at the event.
