Education and legal literacy interaction session held at 57th STS General Conference

Chandel, January 11 2026:
An interaction session on "Empowerment Through Education and Legal Literacy" was organised during the 57th General Conference of Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe/Monsang Naga Students' Union (STS) at Liwa Khullen (Meeleen) village in Chandel district on Saturday.
The programme was jointly conducted by the Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in collaboration with STS and Ethar Erur (EE) .
The session was aimed at enhancing awareness among the Monsang student community on education and legal literacy, with discussions focusing on the importance of quality education, higher studies, preparation for competitive examinations, women-related issues and understanding legal rights.
Chairperson of MSCW, Th Tiningpham Monsang, was among the panelists, along with Th Tommy Monsang, Income Tax Officer, Ministry of Finance, Government of India; Dr Sh Wilson Monsang, Food Safety Officer, Chandel; Dr Kiirii Onand Monsang, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, Dhanamanjuri University; and Kh Jacky, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, District Judge Court, Chandel.
The interaction session was moderated by Dr W Somie Monsang, Assistant Professor, Department of History, G P Women's College, Dhanamanjuri University.
A large number of students and parents attended the programme and actively participated in the discussions.
Meanwhile, in a pageant contest held on the evening of January 10 as part of the conference, W Shanchuila was crowned Miss Monsang 2026, while Ng Clearisha and Ts Luciana secured the first and second runners-up titles respectively.
