Man drowns in Jiri river

Jiribam, June 06 2025: In an unfortunate incident, a 55 year old man from Kaimai village of Tamenglong district drowned at Jiri river on Thursday at around 4 pm.

The man who has been identified as Dinchuilung Kamei from Kaimai village of Tamenglong district has come to visit his relative's house at Namdailong in Assam, however tragedy struck when he went for swimming at Jiri river on Thursday.

Dinchuiling Kamei is survived by his wife and 11 children.

As news about the tragic incident spread, several people from the nearby villages including local volunteers, Forest Department and Assam Police immediately joined the search, however his body has not been retrieved till today.
