Free cancer detection ana awareness camp held at Kakching

With the aim of spreading greater awareness among the public on cancer disease, a one-day free detection cum awareness programme was organised today at Yumbimacha High School, Kakching.
Held under the theme "Together in Fight, Together in Life", the camp was organised by the Cancer Survivors of Manipur (CaSoM), in collaboration with District Health Society, NCD Cell Kakching; and Karkinos Cancer Hospital.
The event was attended by Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee spokesperson and CMO of Maharaja Agrasen Hospital, New Delhi, Dr Naorem Bobo; CaSoM advisor, retd SMO, Medical Health Services, Dr RK Noni; CaSoM Optometrist, Navika Jain; president of CaSoM, Sangeela Sagolsem; and treasurer of CaSoM, Seityabati as presidium members.
Dr K Rajo, former Director of Health Services Manipur, and Head of Dept of Anesthesia, Karkinos Manipur, served as the resource person of the programme.
In his address, Dr Rajo highlighted the reasons for occurence of cancer diseases, their various types, and the importance of early detection, medication, and preventive measures.
During the camp, a wide range of free medical tests were provided for participants, including Haemoglobin, CBC, Blood Group and Rh, RBS, HB1 AC, LFT, KFT, Thyroid Profile, Lipid Profile, SB 12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Torch Panel, Dengue, and CA 125.More than 200 people were screened for different types of cancers, and 15 cancer patients received free consultations on treatment options from the attending doctors.
