Imphal, July 04 2025:
The BiramangolCollege(BMC)Stu-dents Union has launched an indefinite shutdown of Biramangol College in protest against the delay in appointing a regular Principal.
Speaking to the media today at Manipur Press Club, BMC Students Union general secretary Mukesh Mangang urged the Government and Education Department to take appropriate action against the college's Principal O Premila and IQAC Coordinator Dr S Rajesh for their alleged involvement in misappropriation of college fund.
He also urged the Government to appoint a qualified and competent regular Principal of the College at the earliest to ensure its smooth functioning and administration.
He mentioned that since June 17, students of the college have been staging various forms of democratic protest demanding appropriate action against the two individuals and the appointment of a regular Principal.
"We had given more than two weeks to solve the crisis as our career are at stake but as the authority fails to listen to our demand we are left with no choice but to shut down the college", said Mukesh while adding that the college will remain closed until a regular Principal is appointed.
Mukesh also informed that a memorandum in this regard has also been submitted to the Director of the Directorate of University & Higher Education.
