Nouwa Education on Sunday successfully conducted an Orientation Programme for Internally Displaced Students at the Akampat Relief Camp, Ideal Girls' College, Akampat.
As per a release issued by Nouwa Education, the programme brought together around 200 displaced students who are preparing for this year's Class X & XII board examinations.
During the programme, study materials and essential stationery items were distributed to the students.
Extra academic classes were also conducted subjectwise by experienced teachers to help students prepare effectively for their board examinations.
In addition, counselling sessions were conducted by two clinical psychologists, Ng Zevina and Shamurailatpam Berina Devi, focusing on students' mental health and psychosocial well-being.
The students were accompanied by their parents/relatives, along with members of the committees of their respective relief camps.
Around 10 teachers and 15 volunteers from the Nouwa Education team were actively involved in the programme.
Notably, Nouwa Education has been organising orientation programmes for internally displaced students for the past two years across Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching districts.
Following each orientation programme, Nouwa Education also conducts workshops and career counselling sessions, with special focus on the unique challenges faced by internally displaced students.
Nouwa Education is an educational initiative of Where Have All The Flowers Gone?-The Foundation, established in September 2023 to address the educational and psychosocial needs of students residing in relief camps.
Since its inception, the initiative has conducted various programmes across relief camps in the valley districts.
The initiative is supported by friends and family members who continue to stand in solidarity with the cause.
