In a landmark development for international education in Northeast India, Pitambara English School (PES) has launched a pioneering academic collaboration with Suan Dusit University (SDU) of Bangkok, Thailand.
As per a release issued by PES, the initiative marked the first-ever structured exchange programme in Manipur to focus on the dual promotion of Thai and Manipuri language & culture.
A Thai delegation led by the SDU Vice-Chairman will visit the PES campus at Kwakeithel Heinou Khongnembi from May 4-8 for workshops, orientation sessions and cultural activities.
The collaboration stems from an MoU signed in February 2026, but ties began three years ago when PES started Thai certificate courses certified by Surindra Rajabhat University, Thailand.
Twelve PES delegates - students, teachers and committee members- have already completed a sevenday academic visit to SDU in Bangkok.
The exchange goes beyond classroom learning.
Students will get real-time interaction with Thai peers in Manipur, exposure to Thai communication and culture, and a chance to showcase Manipuri traditions, food and attire to an international audience.
PES, said structured student exchanges will continue through 2026, along With faculty exchange, joint projects and curriculum development.
The school said the programme positions Manipur as an emerging hub for international education and aims to build lasting cultural diplomacy between India and Thailand.
