Chandel, November 02 2025:
The Japhou Village Authority and Japhou Youth Club have strongly condemned the brutal assault on four leaders of the Sirti Thiimjiitam Sourkhe (Monsang Students' Union) that occurred on the night of October 30 along the Kakching Lamkhai-Pallel road.
According to a joint statement issued by the village authority and youth club, the victims - Gedion Kiirii (president), Wanglar Phillip (general secretary), and senior leaders Ts Hollyson and Th Moni - were attacked by a group of unidentified miscreants while returning home to Chandel from Kakching Lamkhai.
The incident reportedly took place around 9:30 pm near the Bijoypur area, when the four leaders had parked their vehicle by the roadside.
Around six to eight unidentified persons arriving on an Activa scooter and an e-auto rickshaw allegedly attacked them without provocation.
The perpetrators fled towards Pallel after the assault, leaving the victims severely injured.
Terming the incident as "barbaric", the Japhou Village Authority and Japhou Youth Club expressed grave concern and resentment, asserting that such violent acts against student leaders and community representatives were unacceptable in a civil society.
They urged law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take stringent action against the culprits, ensuring that justice is delivered swiftly.
Further, the two bodies appealed to all communities across Manipur to uphold humane behaviour and work towards peaceful co-existence and harmony in the state.
