SIR house-to-house voter enumeration underway in Kakching, Kangpokpi

Kakching/Kangpokpi, June 01 2026:
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026 has commenced in Kakching and Kangpokpi districts, with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) undertaking door-to-door enumeration to ensure an accurate and updated electoral roll ahead of the publication of the final voters' list.
Addressing a press briefing at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Complex, Kakching, District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R, informed that the revision exercise is being conducted as per the directives of the Election Commission of India, with July 1, 2026 fixed as the qualifying date.
She stated that Kakching district has a total of 1,19,260 registered electors spread across four Assembly Constituencies - 36-Wabagai, 37-Kakching, 38-Hiyanglam and 39-Sugnu.The district comprises 143 polling stations, with 143 BLOs and 17 BLO Supervisors deployed for the revision process.
According to the DEO, training programmes, printing of materials and other preparatory activities were completed between May 20 and May 29 .
House-to-house visits by BLOs began on May 30 and will continue until June 28, during which rationalisation of polling stations will also be undertaken.
Meanwhile, the SIR house-to-house enumeration drive has also begun in Kangpokpi district, covering 1,10,290 electors across three Assembly Constituencies - 46-Saikul, 50-Kangpokpi and 51-Saitu.A total of 176 BLOs have been deployed to distribute, collect and verify Enumeration Forms by personally visiting every household.
Officials informed that electors may submit completed Enumeration Forms either to their respective BLOs or through the online mode.
The exercise aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.
The draft electoral roll for both districts will be published on July 5, 2026 .
Claims and objections may be filed from July 5 to August 4, while disposal of claims and objections will continue until September 2.The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026 .
