Imphal, March 01 2025: A blood donation camp for supporting children in need of blood transfusion under the 'Free Blood for Children' scheme initiated by Helping Hands for People (HHP), Manipur from January 14 onwards, was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat Blood Centre on Saturday.

The camp jointly organised by HHP, Manipur; Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM), Manipur; School of Nursing, Porompat; Meitei Baptist Association (MBA) and Manipur Legislative Assembly staffers witnessed 147 people volunteering to donate blood, out of which, 73 donated blood, 26 were ineligible while rest of them were kept in reserve.

Speaking to media persons, HHP president Premjit Moirangthem stated that the said scheme has been implemented at JNIMS only, but preparation is being made to provide the benefit of the scheme in other hospitals and blood centres soon.

He further urged government and private hospitals, and blood centres to contact the organisation for availing benefits under the scheme.
