Environment activist Jojo Robertson has launched a massive tree plantation drive with the goal of planting 2000 saplings in Kasom Khullen Sub-Division during the month of May and June.
The 53 year old former social activist, who has now turned his focus on saving the environment, made the announcement at the Thangjing Hall of Manipur Press Club today.
According to Jojo Robertson, he conducted research on the environment in Kasom Khullen Sub-Division over the last 7 years.
During his research, he found 14 varieties of medical plants, 58 fruit-bearing plants, 43 types of vegetables, 132 types of spices and trees, 51 types of birds including the seasonal varieties, 24 species of animals and 21 species of fish.
However, these varieties of animals, birds and plants are under threat due to continued degradation of the environment.

Aside from the tree plantation drive, an annual Cleanliness and Hygienic Award will be given to three households of Kasom Khullen on January 12 .
