Imphal, September 20 2015:
The United Naga Council (UNC) has expressed gratitude to the Naga public for responding positively to its call for mass Naga public rally at Ukhrul, Chandel, Senapati and Tamenglong to welcome the Indo-Naga historic peace accord signed on Aug 3 and to condemn the most contro-versial anti-Naga Bills and resolutions passed by the Manipur Legislative Assembly on Aug 31 and killing of 9 civilians and injuring hundreds on Aug 31 and Sept 1 while defending the inalienable rights of the tribal people and their political aspiration in Chu-rachandpur.
In a statement, the UNC said that the signing of the Indo-Naga historic Peace Accord on Aug 3 based on the unique history of the Nagas and its situation was a hard earned political achievement for bringing lasting peace in the region.
The UNC appealed to all Nagas to stand unitedly and to remain alert with preparedness to defend their inalienable political rights from repressive, oppressive and suppressive measures of State forces or adversaries to people's aspiration.
It further appealed to the Naga public to extend maximum support and cooperation to the UNC call in near future.
