Imphal, October 30 2025: A one-day workshop on "Techniques in Molecular Biology" was conducted today at BRIC-Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Takyelpat, Imphal.

The workshop held under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India was sponsored by ANRF as a part of the Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) for SERB-POWER Research Grant.

A total of 16 individuals participated in the event.

They were from DM University, Imphal, and Department of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Zoology and Botany from Manipur University.

Dr Asem Mipeshwaree Devi, Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellow at BRIC-IBSD Imphal and the Principal Investigator of the SERB-POWER Research Grant, coordinated the workshop.

Notable dignitaries present include Dr Nanaocha Sharma, Director (Additional Charge), BRIC-IBSD; Dr Sudripta Das, Scientist, BRIC-IBSD and Dr Chingakham Brajakishor Singh, Scientist, BRIC-IBSD, among others.

Additionally, the technical session of the workshop commenced at 11:30 am with an introductory presentation on "Techniques in Molecular Biology" by the Plant Molecular Genetics and Genomics Laboratory, BRIC-IBSD.

After the session, the participants engaged in the workshop activities conducted by Dr Lakshmipriyarti Devi Moirangthem, Khomdram Khedashwori Devi, Anantham Romil Kumar.

Sourav Swamakar, Manaschon YR, Khundrakpam Basanti, and Leimapokpam Lamyanbi Mangang.

The participants were given hands-on training regarding the extraction and quantification of DNA, PCR amplification, gel electrophoresis as well as interpreting the results.
