Health Camp cum Interaction Programme held

A Health Camp cum Interaction Programme aimed at promoting health and well-being of sportspersons was organised today at Department of Sports Medicine, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, in presence of Dr Yumnam Ningthemba Singh, Associate Professor and Head of Department of Sports Medicine (i/c), and Dr Akoijam Joy Singh, Professor, Department of Sports Medicine, along with sportspersons and other participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Sunil Kumar said Manipur is a powerhouse of sports and has produced numerous outstanding athletes.
He highlighted that RIMS is the only medical institute in North-East offering Sports Medicine as a specialised subject, while its Sports Medicine Centre is among top 10 centres in India.
He said the special camp was organised to provide sportspersons access to specialised medical assessment, injury prevention and management rehabilitation and expert guidance.
The health camp Was specially organised for sportspersons with active participation from athletes.
The programme focused on health awareness, preventive healthcare, medical assessment injury prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and expert guidance, while providing opportunities to interact with specialists and enhance awareness of maintaining fitness and preventing sports-related problems.
