'Jagabandhu Darashan' production launched

Imphal, March 30 2026: The Harimati Dance & Music Centre has launched its new production for the year 2025-26, titled "Jagabandhu Darashan".

The launch event took place today at the Centre's complex in Porompat.

The event was graced by Ksh Tama Devi, former Up-Adakshya of Imphal East Zilla Parishad; and Sanskrit scholar Brahmacharimayum Debadutta Sharma as the chief guest and president respectively.

Naorem Harimati, secretary of the Centre, explained that "Jagabandhu Darashan" is a 26-minute dance drama capturing a poignant moment from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's life- his ecstatic encounter with Jagannath (Jagabandhu) in Odisha.

Ksh Tama Devi praised the Centre for its significant contributions to Manipuri art and culture over the years, consistently producing new artists and productions.

The production features ten junior students and six senior artists from the Centre.

Pechimayum Pumananda plays the role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

The composition, choreography, and music for the new production were all handled by Naorem Harimati.
