'Wonders of Chemistry' workshop wraps up at Manipur Science Centre

The two-day "Wonders of Chemistry" workshop organised by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur at the Innovation Hub, Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat concluded on Wednesday.
The programme saw participation of 64 students from different parts of Manipur.
Attending as chief guest, Secretary of Science and Technology, Kengoo Zuringla, said such workshops will help students gain more knowledge and grow up to become responsible citizens.
She expressed hope that today's students would become capable individuals who will protect the Nation and work toward building a peaceful and progressive Manipur.
Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Ch Shachi, said the department, though small, is working to equip the Manipur Science Centre with more facilities to provide knowledge on Science and Technology to students.
She added that the Innovation Hub at the centre must keep pace with changing Science and Technology and focus on innovation.
Joint Director, TD Kom, said the workshop was organised to give school students in Manipur deeper knowledge of Chemistry as a subject.
"Science is not something that should be separated from human beings", he said.
Joint Secretary, KH Leiyaphy Rita, stated that Science and Technology is progressing daily across the world.
She stressed the need to impart more practical knowledge to students beyond classroom theory.
"We cannot live without Science.
The things we use and consume every day are all products of Chemistry and Science Technology", she said.
Head of the Chemistry Department, Millennium Institute of Sciences, Salam Anjubala attended as resource person.
As part of the programme, teachers also conducted a live demonstration of a "Super Cold Show" using liquid nitrogen for the students.
Prizes and certificates were distributed to top performers in the chemistry competition and to all participating students.
